Minor Injuries in Sunday Crash West of Sioux Center

A two vehicle crash three miles west of Sioux Center caused minor injuries early Sunday evening.  The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Sioux Center Ambulance, and the Sioux Center Fire Department responded to the accident that occurred at the intersection of 380th Street and Garfield Avenue at 5:54 pm Sunday.

Investigators say 30-year-old Cole Porter of Doon had been travelling north on Garfield in a Chevrolet Pickup when 26-year-old Ever Chavez-Chilel of Sioux Center, driving east on 380th Street, failed to stop at the stop sign.  The two collided in the intersection.

Porter reported minor injuries and declined further medical attention.

Porter’s Chevrolet sustained approximately $10,000 in damage; the Toyota driven by Chavez-Chilel received about $15,000 in damage.  Chavez-Chilel was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign and operating a motor vehicle without valid driver’s license.
