A Maurice man was involved in a crash in which a Hardy, Iowa, woman sustained fatal injuries near Humboldt on Monday.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. on Highway 3, about six miles east of Humboldt. Sixty-year-old Debora Ruberg of Hardy was driving west when authorities say she lost control on snow and ice near States Avenue and crossed into the eastbound lane. Her vehicle was struck by a semi driven by 37-year-old Austin Van Klompenburg of Maurice.
Ruberg was ejected in the crash. She was taken by Humboldt Ambulance to Humboldt Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Van Klompenburg was not injured.
The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office, Humboldt EMS, and Humboldt police and fire departments assisted at the scene.
