A man from Madrid, Iowa, is facing multiple charges following a domestic disturbance early Sunday morning in Okoboji.
According to Okoboji Police, officers were called to Lake Okoboji Resort around 3:30 a.m. on a report of a disturbance. When they arrived, officers discovered a 34-year-old woman had been physically and sexually assaulted.
Following an investigation, police arrested 38-year-old Robert Welder of Madrid, Iowa. He was charged with sexual abuse in the third degree, a Class C felony, along with domestic abuse assault and public intoxication, both simple misdemeanors.
Police say Welder has since been released from jail after posting bond.
The Arnolds Park and Spirit Lake Police Departments assisted in the investigation.
