Two suspects arrested in South Dakota in connection with a burglary and fire-related damage at the Lyon County Courthouse in Rock Rapids have been returned to Iowa.
According to court documents, 39-year-old Brandon High Pipe of Rapid City, South Dakota, and 18-year-old Luciano Sanchez of Denver, Colorado, are each charged with first-degree criminal mischief, two counts of conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony, third-degree burglary, reckless use of fire, explosives, or destructive devices, and willful disturbance stemming from the December 16th incident.
Documents allege Sanchez caused damage exceeding $10,000 and that both men allegedly set fire to a flag and flagpole, burglarized the courthouse, and caused significant damage in several offices.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court on January 20th. They are currently being held in the Lyon County Jail, with bond set at $25,000 each.
