A Le Mars man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly using another person’s identity to avoid consequences related to his revoked driver’s license.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 20-year-old Ayik Deng Ayiik Awuol of Le Mars was arrested at 3:34 a.m. on January 28.
The arrest followed an investigation into a report from an individual who received notice of a citation issued in Sioux County under their name. Deputies say it was determined that Awuol had falsely used the victim’s identity during a traffic stop.
Authorities say the false information was used to avoid consequences related to Awuol’s revoked driving privileges.
Awuol was transported to the Sioux County Jail, where he was charged with forgery, a class D felony; tampering with records, an aggravated misdemeanor; providing false information and driving while revoked, both serious misdemeanors; along with driving while suspended and speeding, simple misdemeanors.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Le Mars Police Department.
