A Le Mars man was arrested Thursday afternoon after Sioux County deputies discovered he was violating a no-contact order.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the arrest happened around 4:14 p.m. on November 20, after a deputy came upon a disabled 2009 Dodge Ram along Jackson Avenue, about two miles north of Orange City.
Deputies found the female driver on the phone with 60-year-old Jose Martinez-Gomez of Le Mars. Martinez-Gomez was later located in Orange City, where deputies confirmed he is the subject of a valid no-contact order preventing any contact with the driver. He admitted he had allowed her to use his truck and had been communicating with her for a week or more.
Martinez-Gomez was taken to the Sioux County Jail and charged with violating a no-contact order, as well as a Plymouth County warrant. He was also cited for permitting an unauthorized person to drive.
The protected party was cited for operating with a suspended license, without a valid license, without insurance, and for a child restraint violation.
