Larchwood Crash Sends Two to Sioux Falls Hospitals

A Larchwood man and a passenger were hospitalized following a crash near Larchwood on Thursday, September 25.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 182, about a mile south of Larchwood at the four-way stop. 30-year-old Steven Knape of Rock Valley was driving a 2011 Chevy pickup northbound when he rear-ended 27-year-old Trevor Rozeboom of Larchwood, who was stopped at the stop sign in his 2011 Chevy.

Rozeboom was taken by Lyon County Ambulance to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, and his passenger, 25-year-old Tanner Oleson of Larchwood, was transported to Sanford USD Medical Center.

Both vehicles were heavily damaged, with Knape’s pickup sustaining $5,000 in damage and Rozeboom’s Chevy $7,000—enough to total both vehicles.

Sheriff Brian Hilt says the crash remains under investigation.
