Travel during the upcoming 4th of July holiday is expected to set records both in Iowa and nationwide. Triple-A-Iowa is projecting more than 72-million people will be traveling over the Independence Day weekend. That’s up by nearly two million travelers from last year and more than seven million from 2019. With the increased road travel, the Iowa State Patrol is placing an extra emphasis on safety. State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull detailed the High Visibility Project for this weekend.
Trooper Krull went on to talk about the extra numbers of officers on patrol.
He said this is a joint effort.
The extra enforcement is not just for the 4th holiday.
Trooper Krull reminded drivers why this is so important.
