An 18-year-old Ireton man has been arrested following an undercover online investigation by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Beau Dawson VanWyhe was arrested Friday afternoon, January 16, at approximately 3:50 p.m.
Authorities say the arrest followed an undercover investigation in which VanWyhe allegedly engaged in explicit online conversations with a deputy who was posing as a 15-year-old juvenile female.
VanWyhe was taken into custody and transported to the Sioux County Jail. He has been charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class B felony, and grooming, a Class D felony.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Sioux Center Police Department.
