Iowa’s annual sales tax free weekend is this week Friday and Saturday. With back-to-school sales starting, people can get even more savings during the sales tax holiday. Iowa State University extension heal and human sciences educator Carol Ehlers says that households can expand their students wardrobes without paying state and local sales tax.
The exemptions do not apply to the prices of an item selling for over 100-dollars, and Ehlers says there are items that are excluded from the sales tax-holiday.

Ehlers suggested putting a plan in place before hitting the stores. She says you could take an inventory of what your child has, and what they need for the school year, and she adds, set a budget, and stick to it.
The annual sales tax holiday kicks off at 12:01am on Friday, and runs through midnight on Saturday.
