Iowans See Slight Uptick at the Pump While Crude Prices Slide

Drivers across the Hawkeye State are noticing a modest increase in fuel prices this week, with regular unleaded gas inching up by 2 cents to an average of $2.95 per gallon, according to AAA. Though the rise is minor, the current average sits a full 34 cents lower than the same time last year.

Diesel prices also saw movement, climbing 5 cents to an Iowa average of $3.58 per gallon. That figure remains below the national diesel average of $3.74. Interestingly, while retail prices edged up, the broader oil market showed a dip: West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.48 to land at $65.07 per barrel, and Brent crude slipped 34 cents, now priced at $68.33 — both notably lower than their values one year ago.
