Iowa DNR Considering Increase in Hunting and Fishing License Fees

It could soon cost a little more to hunt, fish, and trap in Iowa. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is considering an increase in license fees that would take effect December 15th for the 2027 recreation year.

Under the proposal, the price of resident hunting and fishing licenses would increase by one dollar. Resident deer license fees would rise by $1.50, trout fees would increase by 50 cents, and resident lifetime hunting and fishing licenses would go up by $2.50.

The DNR says the adjustment would apply across all license types and fees, and notes it would be the first increase since 2019.

The agency is accepting public comments on the proposed changes through March 24th.
