Inwood Woman Sentenced on Five Counts of Child Endangerment

An Inwood woman has been sentenced after pleading guilty to multiple counts of child endangerment tied to incidents at a local daycare.

According to a press release from the Lyon County Attorney’s Office, 31-year-old Elizabeth Maisie Kainrath of Inwood was sentenced March 10th in Lyon County District Court on five counts of Child Endangerment—Substantial Risk, Aggravated Misdemeanors.

Court documents say the charges stem from an incident on March 3rd, 2024, when Kainrath was working at a daycare facility. Authorities allege she grabbed a two-year-old child and dragged the child by the arms, causing marks, before dropping the child to the floor.

Investigators say Kainrath also grabbed another child by the leg and dragged the child across the floor, and at one point lifted a two-year-old by one arm before dropping the child to the ground.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was contacted following the incident, and charges were later filed.

As part of a plea agreement reached on January 20th, Kainrath pleaded guilty to all five counts.

She was sentenced to 365 days in jail on each count, with all but 50 days suspended. The sentences will be served consecutively, and she is required to serve a total of 10 days.

Kainrath was also ordered to pay an $855 criminal fine for each count, along with a 15 percent surcharge and court costs. She will be placed on probation for two years, must complete anger management classes, and pay restitution to the victims.

Additionally, she has been placed on the Child Abuse Registry and is prohibited from working in positions that involve direct contact with children.
