Hundreds in Rock Valley Without Power Sunday Night

Nearly 600 power customers in Rock Valley were without power on Sunday night into Monday morning.

MidAmerican Energy spokesperson Geoff Greenwood says that thunderstorms moved through the area Sunday night. Greenwood stated that at around 9:45 p.m., lightning struck a power pole on 14th Street, east of 22nd Avenue in Rock Valley, cutting power to 577 customers – mostly in the city of Rock Valley.

At about 11:15, MidAmerican Energy crews were able to restore all but 15 customers.

They worked overnight to remove and replace the power pole, overhead line, and components, and restored the remaining customers just before 5:00 Monday morning.
