Hull Woman Charged with Child Endangerment and Drug Offenses

A Hull woman is facing multiple charges after the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office investigated conditions inside a Hull residence earlier this week.

According to court records, 42-year-old Sarah Faith De Jong of Hull was arrested on June 16 following an investigation at a residence on 4th Street in Hull. Authorities charged De Jong with child endangerment, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to a criminal complaint, investigators allege De Jong, as a parent or guardian, knowingly acted in a manner that created a substantial risk to the health or safety of a minor child residing in the home. Authorities allege multiple used methamphetamine needles were left loose in a drawer in a common area of the residence that was easily accessible to the child. Investigators further allege that dog feces were scattered throughout the basement floor and that the home’s condition, combined with the presence of the needles, created a substantial risk to the child’s physical health.

Court documents allege De Jong was found in possession of drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe containing burnt marijuana residue, marijuana, and a syringe containing methamphetamine. Investigators subsequently charged her with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

De Jong was charged with:

•Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
•Possession of Controlled Substance — Methamphetamine, First Offense (Serious Misdemeanor)
•Possession of Controlled Substance — Marijuana, First Offense (Serious Misdemeanor)
•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Simple Misdemeanor)

Bond was set at $4,000 cash or surety. Jail records indicate De Jong was released on June 17 after posting bond.
