Hull Woman Arrested on Multiple Charges After Traffic Stop in Rock Valley

A Hull woman is facing multiple charges after a traffic stop in Rock Valley allegedly led to the discovery of drugs, a loaded handgun, and three children in the vehicle.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Sioux County District Court, 31-year-old Jasmine Marie Prellwitz of Hull was stopped by a Rock Valley police officer around 3:31 p.m. on Friday, March 13, near the intersection of 14th Street and 20th Avenue.

The officer reported initiating the stop after observing a vehicle with illegal window tint on the front windows. During the stop, the officer said he could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

According to court documents, Prellwitz admitted she had smoked marijuana earlier in the day. Officers searched the vehicle and reportedly found marijuana along with prescription pills that were not in labeled containers. Authorities say the pills were identified as Adderall.

Investigators also say a loaded handgun was found on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Court records indicate three children under the age of 18 were inside the vehicle at the time of the stop.

Prellwitz was taken to the Rock Valley Police Department, where she agreed to a drug influence evaluation. Officers reported she showed signs consistent with cannabis impairment. A preliminary breath test reportedly showed a blood-alcohol concentration of .000 percent.

Authorities say Prellwitz later refused to provide a urine sample for chemical testing under Iowa’s implied consent law.

Prellwitz was arrested and charged with neglect or abandonment of a dependent person, operating while intoxicated – first offense, carrying a dangerous weapon while intoxicated, unlawful possession of prescription drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended.

She was booked into the Sioux County Jail and later released after posting ten percent of a $10,000 bond.

No court date has yet been announced in the case.
