Hull Man Charged with Two Counts of Second-Degree Sexual Abuse

A Hull man is facing multiple felony charges in Sioux County after authorities say he sexually abused two children under the age of 12 several years ago.

According to Sioux County Jail records, 23-year-old Carlos Antonio Cordova of Hull was arrested Friday by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office in Orange City. He is charged with two counts of second-degree sexual abuse, both Class B felonies.

Court documents allege the incidents happened between March of 2020 and March of 2021 in Hull. Authorities say the alleged victims were under the age of 12 at the time.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Sioux County District Court, one victim told investigators during a forensic interview that Cordova attempted to sexually assault her and forced oral sex acts when she was around seven or eight years old. Investigators say the victim reported the abuse happened twice.

The complaint also alleges Cordova admitted to investigators that the accusations involving the first victim were true and additionally admitted to committing a similar assault against the victim’s sister when she was a similar age.

Investigators wrote that Cordova said he may have assaulted the first victim four or five times.

Court records indicate both charges are Class B felonies, punishable by up to 25 years in prison on each count and potentially carrying lifetime parole requirements.

At last report, Cordova remained in the Sioux County Jail on a $50,000 cash or surety bond.
