A Hull man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he burglarized a local business and stole more than $10,000 worth of property.
According to a criminal complaint filed by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Jakob Gamboa of Hull was arrested Sunday in connection with a reported burglary at Ozone Solutions, located along Highway 18.
Court documents state that deputies received a burglary report on February 25th. Security footage from the business allegedly shows a vehicle associated with Gamboa at the property during the incident. The footage also reportedly shows a man identified as Gamboa attempting to gain entry through a locked door.
Authorities later executed a search warrant at Gamboa’s residence. Deputies say they recovered more than $10,000 worth of property belonging to Ozone Solutions during that search.
Gamboa has been charged with first-degree theft, a Class C felony; third-degree burglary, a Class D felony; and second-degree criminal mischief, also a Class D felony.
Under Iowa law, a Class C felony carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison if convicted. A Class D felony carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.
Gamboa is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on March 10th.
At last report, he remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
The charges remain allegations, and Gamboa is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
