The Hull Cooperative Association has had a footprint in Sheldon for only a short time through its feed mill, but now the co-op is expanding its local presence in a big way.
Company officials say they’ve purchased the former Ahlers Oil bulk plant in Sheldon and will begin selling fuel out of the site. A ribbon-cutting was held on Wednesday morning to mark the expansion.
Mark Brown, Executive Director of the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation, set the tone for why the project matters to Sheldon.
Hull Co-op General Manager Evan Wielenga says the move into Sheldon reflects a growing need to expand their service area.
Wielenga says the feed mill in Sheldon is equipped with technology from abroad.
The ribbon cutting began at the feed mill before shifting to the newly acquired petroleum bulk plant near the Sheldon Union Depot. Founded in 1908 by local farmers seeking better grain markets, Hull Co-op now marks another chapter of growth as it expands its footprint in Sheldon.
