(KIWA) — Hull City Administrator Heidi Kramer is one of two finalists for Sheldon’s city manager position, the city announced.

Kramer grew up in Granville and served as city clerk in Hospers for 12 years before becoming Hull’s city administrator in 2022.

She and Joe Darter of East Peoria, Illinois, were selected as finalists following a national recruitment effort and detailed screening process. Both candidates have completed initial screening and virtual interviews.

Residents will have an opportunity to meet the finalists during a public meet-and-greet on Friday, October 9, from 5 to 6 p.m. on the third floor of the Community Services Center, 416 9th Street in Sheldon.

The city is inviting residents, business owners, community leaders, and other interested members of the public to attend. The informal event will allow attendees to ask questions and learn more about each candidate’s background and approach to municipal leadership.

The selection process continues Saturday, October 10, when Kramer and Darter will participate in structured panel interviews. Those panels will include elected officials, members of the city’s leadership team, and civic leaders.

According to the city, the next phase is intended to help the community and city leadership assess each finalist’s experience, leadership approach, and vision for Sheldon.

City officials say community input is an important part of selecting Sheldon’s next city manager.
