A 17-year-old Hospers teen was cited following a single-vehicle rollover accident on Highway 60 on Wednesday morning.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 7:37 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, about a half-mile south of 400th Street near Hospers.
Authorities say Andrew Walter Castillo, 17, of Hospers, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer southbound on Highway 60 when he lost control of the vehicle. The SUV entered the west ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its top.
Castillo was transported by the Hospers Ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries. The vehicle sustained an estimated $10,000 in damage and was deemed a total loss.
Castillo was cited for failure to maintain control.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Hospers Fire Department and the Hospers Ambulance.
