Hospers Man Sentenced to Prison

A Hospers man was sentenced to prison in Sioux County District Court Tuesday.  According to a press release from the Sioux County Attorney’s Office, 36-year-old Andrew Michael Joslin of Hospers received an indeterminate sentence of up to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.

The case arose on September 5, 2023, when the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office arrested Joslin after receiving a report that he solicited a minor female for inappropriate sexual content. During the investigation, authorities determined that Joslin had sexual contact with a minor and also solicited and possessed a minor’s sexually explicit material on his cell phone.

In addition to the prison sentence, Joslin was sentenced as a habitual offender because he had previously been convicted as a felon twice. The Court further sentenced Joslin to various criminal fines and surcharges and ordered him to register as a sex offender for life, as well as special lifetime supervision for sex offenders.  The No Contact Order entered within the case was extended for the maximum period of five years.
