43-year-old Robert Hansen was convicted by a jury in two separate trials last year of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine; two counts of distribution of methamphetamine; and one count of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Almost a year ago, on May 18, 2022, Hansen was convicted by a jury of two counts of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm, he had 17. A jury found he was involved in a conspiracy to distribute more than 100 pounds of the drug over a four year time span beginning in early 2017. The jury verdict included findings that Hansen’s methamphetamine distributions occurred within 1000 feet of Hospers Elementary School and South Side Park in Hospers.
United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand sentenced Hansen to 25 years in federal prison. He must also serve a 10-year term of supervised release following the imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system.
