Warmer fall weather next week is giving construction crews a boost along Highway 75. Contractors are taking advantage of the mild conditions to keep moving forward with sidewalk connections, lighting, and streetscape work downtown.
Because of the continued progress, two-way traffic will now reopen in mid-November instead of earlier in the month. The extra time lets crews use the good weather to get prep work done efficiently and safely, cutting down on future delays and disruptions next spring.
So far, travel lanes and most side street connections are paved, with crews this week focusing on turning lanes, crosswalks, streetlights, and sidewalks. Access to downtown businesses remains a top priority, and construction workers are pushing hard to finish as much as possible before winter sets in.
Justin Christensen, Office Manager at DGR’s Sioux Center offices, is hopeful that next year will go faster and more smoothly.
Contractors have kept ahead of schedule this year, and everything done now will help next year’s work move faster. Two-way traffic on Highway 75 is expected to return by mid-November.
