Highway 75 May Update

The water main has been replaced from 5th St. S to 2nd St. N (near the Fruited Plain). In the coming week, crews plan to begin removing pavement of Highway 75 from 2nd St. S to 2nd St. N. The very old water mains were replaced first to help avoid leaks during pavement removal. Once pavement is removed, crews will begin the deep utility work to replace the sewer main in this area, then install storm sewer and ultimately the new base and surface of Highway 75.

The next section of work will be between 5th St. S and 2nd St. S. The portion between 2nd St. S and 2nd St. N is being done before that because it is the lowest point for sewer, and sewer lines need to be installed from the low point up.

Work done recently:

•  Install water main and water services from 5th St. S to 2nd St. N

•  Grass seeding and reseeding south of 5th St. S

•  Concrete work on medians from 9th St. S to 5th St. S

•  East library entrance rebuilt for improved grade – opening this coming week

What’s ahead:

•  Remove pavement from 2nd St. S to 2nd St. N.

•  Replace sanitary sewer from 2nd St. S to 2nd St. N

•  New storm sewer from 2nd St. S to 2nd St. N

•  New pavement from 2nd St. S to 2nd St. N

•  Pour rubberized mulch in completed medians from 20th St. S to 6th St. S •  Median plantings from 13th to 9th St. S
