Highway 75 Construction Update for September

More progress is being made as the Highway 75 construction project moves forward, as they continue both underground and above-ground work.

In an update provided by the City of Sioux Center, they say that construction work underground has been primarily around the 3rd Street North intersection and the blocks north of it. The pavement at 3rd Street North has been removed as the utility crews work on the completion of storm sewer and sanitary sewer systems from 5th Street North toward 3rd Street North to prepare for the laying of pavement.

In the meantime, the pavement has been laid from 5th Street South to 2nd Street North. The crews are continuing to complete final details before opening the area to traffic. Sidewalks and driveways have been poured, while cross streets at 4th Street South and 2nd Street North are open, and streetlights are being installed. Colored concrete work is underway downtown, as well.

In the coming weeks, construction crews will finish water work at the 3rd Street North intersection, complete concrete work, install pedestrian signs, plant graded areas, and prepare for paving from 3rd Street North to 5th Street North.

Another update meeting will be held at the Sioux Center Public Library on Wednesday, October 8th, at 11:00 am. The public is invited to attend and ask questions as the city staff and engineers will be present.
