SIOUX CENTER, Iowa – Crews continue making steady progress on the Highway 75 reconstruction project, with major sewer work completed and stormwater system installation underway.
Vander Pol Excavating has finished laying new sewer lines from 2nd Street North near Fruited Plain to 5th Street South. Next, crews will install the stormwater system in that area before preparing the new road base for paving. Paving is expected to begin in about a month, starting at 5th Street South and moving north toward 2nd Street North.

Meanwhile, MLS Landscape and Design has been working in the medians from 13th Street South to 6th Street South, adding perennial plants and trees. Crews are also laying rubber mulch around planting areas from 20th Street to 9th Street, a material designed to retain moisture and reduce maintenance. Additionally, synthetic turf installation is ongoing in medians from 13th Street to 6th Street South, offering a low-maintenance alternative to traditional grass (read also, no mowing!).
Residents interested in project updates can attend the next monthly construction public meeting on Wednesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. in the Sioux Center Public Library’s meeting room. These meetings, held on the second Wednesday of each month throughout the construction season, provide updates from city staff and engineers while allowing the public to ask questions.
The project aims to improve infrastructure while enhancing the corridor’s appearance and functionality. Crews will continue working through the summer to keep improvements on schedule.
