A Hawarden man has been arrested in Rock Rapids on multiple charges involving the alleged exploitation of a minor.
According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 24-year-old Dillon Anderson of Hawarden is accused of attempting to solicit nude photos from someone he believed was a 14-year-old.
Authorities say the investigation led to a meeting Friday at Emma Sater Park in Rock Rapids, where Anderson was taken into custody after discovering he had actually been communicating with a law enforcement officer.
According to the criminal complaint, a deputy stated Anderson believed he was communicating with the minor through the minor’s school-issued laptop.
Anderson is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class B felony. If convicted, that charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison.
He also faces additional charges of grooming and enticing a minor under the age of 16, both Class D felonies, which carry penalties of up to five years in prison each if convicted.
Court records show Anderson is scheduled to make his initial appearance on Monday, March 24th.
At last report, Anderson remained in custody at the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids on a $30,000 bond.
