Hartley Couple Arrested for Insurance Fraud

A rural Hartley couple has been arrested following an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau.

Authorities say 34-year-old Jeremy Poduska and 34-year-old Alicia Poduska were taken into custody Wednesday evening and charged with Class D felonies for insurance fraud.

According to court documents, the couple allegedly submitted a fraudulent insurance claim seeking more than $13,000. Investigators say Jeremy Poduska, a farmer, listed a fictitious company on the claim and falsely identified his wife, Alicia Poduska, an insurance adjuster, as an authorized contact.

Both were booked into jail and later released after posting $5,000 bonds each.

The case remains under investigation by the Iowa Insurance Fraud Bureau and O’Brien County authorities.
