A Granville man was arrested Saturday night following a collision involving a pickup and a tractor west of Sioux Center.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 9:52 p.m. on November 15 along 400th Street, about four miles west of town. Deputies say 53-year-old David Recker was driving a 1988 Chevrolet K1500 eastbound when he failed to yield half the roadway and struck a westbound 2026 John Deere 8R 340 tractor pulling a JBS Lowrider manure spreader. 29-year-old Mattew Vercuiel of Perry drove the tractor.
Recker reported minor injuries but declined medical transport. During the investigation, deputies say they found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine inside his vehicle.
Damage to the pickup was estimated at $2,000; the manure spreader sustained about $1,000 in damage.
Recker was taken to the Sioux County Jail and charged with Operating While Under the Influence, Possession of a Controlled Substance (2nd offense), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was also cited for Failure to Yield Half of the Roadway.
The Sioux Center Police Department assisted at the scene.
