Giant Corn Silo Unveiled at Hawkeye Point

Iowa’s highest natural point has a new landmark that’s hard to miss. Hawkeye Point near Sibley now features a silo painted to look like a giant ear of corn, designed to grab the attention of drivers on Highway 60.

“We like to say it’s the tallest ear of corn in Iowa,” said Mike Earll, Chairman of the Hawkeye Point Foundation.

Hawkeye Point draws visitors from across the country, and board members hope the new feature encourages even more people to stop.

The site also includes antique farm equipment and a small museum. Hawkeye Point is open year-round.
