Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Sioux County will offer free tax preparation services this month through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
The service is designed for individuals and families with low to moderate incomes and aims to help participants claim the tax credits and deductions to which they are eligible.
The VITA sessions will be held Monday, February 10, from noon to 7:30 p.m., and Tuesday, February 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Both sessions will take place at the ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County office at 400 Central Avenue NW, Suite 700, in Orange City. Appointments are required and can be scheduled online or by calling the Sioux County Extension office.
Greta Giese, regional director for ISU Extension and Outreach, says the program helps ensure families don’t leave money on the table.
Participants will meet one-on-one with trained, certified tax preparers and complete their 2025 tax returns during their appointment.
Giese says ISU Extension brought the program to Sioux County last year after the region previously lacked a local VITA site.
There is no registration deadline, but appointments are first-come, first-served. Appointments can be scheduled at go.iastate.edu/VITA2026 or by calling ISU Extension and Outreach Sioux County at 712-737-4230.
