Community Health Partners of Sioux County is offering free flu shots for livestock workers in partnership with Sioux Center Health. Funded through an Iowa program called the Preparedness and Response Grant.
This initiative first started with employees who work with businesses partnering with Community Health Partners. This year the program was expanded to include anyone who’s a farmer or who works with livestock. Terry Bos, director of community health services, lays out the motivation behind expanding the program this year.
“We thought, you know what, we really also want to make it more available. Um, to put it out there for any of our farmers who may be like, say you’re a hog farmer or you’re a small dairy farmer, really want to reach more of those people to make sure they know it’s available.”
The clinic is set up to be stress-free and easy to participate in, Bos details the process.
“It’s just a walk in time, so no appointments are necessary and they can walk in any time between one and four thirty on October sixth. There. Um, no insurance is needed, so don’t even have to bring an insurance card. You just have to say that you, uh, work with livestock, that you’re a farmer and you can just walk up, get a free flu shot and be on your way.”
Flu vaccinations will be administered Tomorrow (Tuesday), from 1 to 4:30 PM at Sioux Center Health’s Occupational Health Department next to ViBella’s. You can catch a full Daily Grind Interview with Teri Bos Here.
