Boyden, Iowa — Four people were taken to the hospital after an accident near Boyden on Thursday.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:30 p.m. 63-year-old Robert Feldman of George was driving a semi-tractor northbound on Kennedy Avenue, three and a half miles north of Boyden. They say 18-year-old Cody Van Engen of Orange City was driving a pickup southbound on Kennedy Avenue.
According to the report, Van Engen crossed the center of the roadway and struck the semi head-on. After the impact, the pickup left the roadway, entered the east ditch and came to rest in a bean field.
The sheriff’s office says the Boyden Ambulance took Van Engen and three passengersto Sanford Sheldon Medical Center. Their injuries were described as “minor.”
Van Engen was cited on charges of failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, driving in the wrong lane, and use of an electronic communications device while operating a motor vehicle.
The sheriff’s office says the Boyden Ambulance Squad and Boyden Fire Department assisted with the response to the accident.
