An early morning fire severely damaged a home, sending one to the hospital. The report came in at 12:25 Friday morning of a residence on fire on 13th Avenue in Rock Valley.
The Rock Valley Fire Department, Rock Valley Ambulance and Rock Valley Police Department were dispatched to the location; automatic aid was requested from the Hull Fire Department.
One person was inside the residence when the fire started and was able to get outside on his own. The 86-year-old male was taken to Heg Health Center, and later flown to a burn unit to receive treatment for his injuries.
The home received severe damage estimated to be more than $80,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rock Valley Fire Chief and the State Fire Marshal.
