Fire destroyed a home south of Boyden Sunday afternoon. Sioux County Communications received a 9-1-1 call at 12:28pm Sunday reporting a garage on fire in the 3400 block of Kennedy Avenue, approximately two and one-quarter miles south of Boyden.
The Boyden Fire Department arrived and found a two-stall garage on fire, which was attached to the residence. Mutual aid was requested from the Sheldon and Hull fire departments to assist in fighting the fire. According to a press release, the fire quickly spread into the attic of the house. Once fire fighters were able to control the blaze on the outside, they were able to get inside the house and extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported; the house was deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
