A fire in Boyden destroyed a house Tuesday evening. The Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance were dispatched to the location on Webb Street after the call came in at 8:55pm. Mutual assistance was requested from the Hull and Sheldon Fire Departments.
Authorities report one person was inside the residence when the fire started and was able to safely get outside; they were taken to Orange City Area Health for precautionary reasons.
The home is considered a total loss, and damage was estimated in excess of $60,000.
In addition to the above fire departments, the Boyden Fire Department was assisted by Sioux County Emergency Management, American Red Cross, Iowa State Patrol and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Boyden Fire Chief.
