A Paullina man has been arrested on a felony eluding charge after a pursuit in Sioux County.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 37-year-old Andrew Hulstein of Paullina is accused of eluding an officer. He was arrested on Sunday.
The deputy says he attempted to stop Hulstein back on August 4th. He says the person the vehicle was registered to had their license suspended. Hulstein attempted to evade the officer and racked up multiple violations in the process. Hulstein ultimately exited into South Dakota, so the pursuit was terminated. He was found about 30 minutes later walking toward Hawarden and was arrested for violation of parole. A fellow inmate informed deputies what Hulstein had told him about the incident, and Hulstein was then charged with eluding the officer.
Hulstein is charged with a Class C Felony and he’ll face a preliminary hearing on September 9th.
Hulstein remained in the Sioux County Jail in Orange City in lieu of a $10,000 bond on the eluding case and a $20,000 bond on the violation of parole case.
