Feenstra Secures $1.8M for Rock Valley Flood Repairs

Recovery efforts continue for the Rock Valley Community School District more than a year after last summer’s flood. Congressman Randy Feenstra announced that FEMA has approved $1.8 million in funding to help the district recover from damage caused when the Rock River surged out of its banks in June.

Floodwaters damaged classrooms, the gym, and the auditorium, forcing the district to delay the start of the school year while temporary classrooms were set up and equipment was replaced. Superintendent Matt Van Voorst says the district has made progress rebuilding and calls the FEMA assistance “a vital step” in fully restoring facilities and ensuring students can learn in a safe environment.

Feenstra praised the community’s resilience and said the federal support will help Rock Valley continue its recovery. He pledged to keep pushing until residents and the school district receive the full relief they need.
