Fareway Donates Large Amount of Corn to Food Bank of Siouxland

The Food Bank of Siouxland is one step closer to filling its Holiday Harvest Boxes thanks to a generous donation from Fareway.

Fareway recently donated more than 2,000 cans of corn to help stock the boxes, which are designed to ease the financial strain of the holiday season for local families in need.

Each Holiday Harvest Box includes traditional side dishes such as corn, green beans, cream of mushroom soup, stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, gravy, and Jell-O—helping families prepare a full holiday meal with just a main dish to add.

“We decided to focus on providing the sides so that families only have to purchase one main item, whether that’s a ham, turkey, or chicken,” explained Valerie Petersen, Associate Executive Director of the Food Bank of Siouxland.

Once assembled, the boxes will be made available to more than 100 partner agencies across the region for distribution.
