Mark your calendars for a fun-filled family event at Sandy Hollow Recreation Area on Saturday, January 25, 2025. From 9:00 am to 11:30 am, families are invited to join the Family Ice Fishing Clinic, located at 3395 400th Street, Sioux Center, Iowa.
This free event, hosted in the picturesque Sandy Hollow Recreation Area, promises an exciting morning on the ice. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and a bucket to sit on, while all other equipment, including pre-drilled holes, bait, and fishing poles, will be provided.
Rowan Oostra, a Sioux Center native and Clam Outdoors Pro, will be the featured guest demonstrator. Known for his passion for fishing, Rowan is eager to share his expertise, tools, and tips with participants, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
Not only will families have the chance to learn about the types of fish they may catch and the equipment used, but the entry fee to the park is also waived for the duration of the event. However, individuals aged 16 and over who plan to fish must have a valid Iowa fishing license.
To add to the enjoyment, BBQ sandwiches will be provided by Backdraft BBQ, with food supplies generously donated by Sioux Center Hy-Vee and the Sioux County Conservation Foundation.
Don’t miss this opportunity for a delightful day of ice fishing, education, and family fun at Sandy Hollow Recreation Area.
