A trash dumpster was totaled in a fire Sunday evening in Sioux Center.
According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, the Sioux Center Fire Department was called at about 6:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 10th, to the report of a dumpster fire at an apartment complex located at 1859 13th Avenue Southeast in Sioux Center.
When firefighters arrived, Van Holland says the dumpster was fully engulfed in flames. Crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
No injuries were reported.
Van Holland says the fire is believed to have started after someone disposed of hot material in the dumpster. The container was considered a total loss, with the plastic lid completely melted in the blaze.
Firefighters were on scene for about 30 minutes.
