Drought Monitor showing less drought in the state

Rainfall at the end of last week and early this week has resulted in less drought showing up in the state.

The Iowa Drought Monitor map released this (Thur) morning shows nearly 47 percent of the state has no drought, up from 39 percent last week.

Moderate drought is down two-tenths of a percent at 6.8 percent across the state. Much of that continues to be in far northwest Iowa including most of Sioux, Plymouth, and O’Brien County’s, as well as smaller portions of Clay and Cherokee. Lyon County continues to be abnormally dry.

At the Sioux County Radio Studio’s on the South side of Sioux Center, we have received 1-inch of rainfall in the past week.
