Rock Valley residents gathered at the local event center on Tuesday evening. They met to review a bold new vision for the town’s future. Specifically, the project aims to turn former flood zones into a massive nature preserve. Currently, there has been no ground-breaking ceremony for this project. However, the detailed plans show a landscape filled with new trails, prairies, and groves.

Mayor Kevin Van Otterloo explained that the city wants a natural and self-sustaining area.

Furthermore, Dr. Rob De Haan led his Restoration Ecology and Stewardship class in designing the site. Following the presentation, students visited each table to listen to community concerns. Dr. De Haan lays out why he believes the project is vital.
