Dordt University has opened Defender Coffee Co., a new campus coffee shop designed to give students, faculty, and staff a welcoming space to connect over coffee and light meals.
Located near The Atrium, the shop serves barista-made drinks, locally sourced pastries, grab-and-go meals, and soups coming soon. Manager Nicole Rensink says lattes and matcha are early favorites, with beans supplied by The Grain House, a local company with Dordt ties.
Vice President for Student Success Robert Taylor says the shop replaced The Grille and was developed in response to student feedback. The nostalgic branding, inspired by a classic Dordt College logo, has already created excitement on campus — and merchandise is on the way.
Defender Coffee Co. is open weekdays and reflects Dordt’s commitment to creating inviting, community-focused spaces for students.
