Dordt Ranks Among Top 5 Midwest Regional Universities

Dordt University has earned a top-five ranking in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best Colleges list, placing fifth among Regional Universities in the Midwest. The university also secured a fifth-place spot on the publication’s Best Value Schools list in the same category.

This marks Dordt’s fourth straight year of climbing the rankings, advancing from eighth two years ago, to sixth last year, and now into the top five.

President Erik Hoekstra says that the university’s mission is clear. “We exist to equip students to work for Christ-centered renewal in every area of life,” Hoekstra said. “Rankings are affirming, but ultimately, we’re here for Christ and to help our students plug into His Kingdom purpose.”

Hoekstra pointed to Dordt’s strong retention and graduation rates, favorable Pell Grant student success ratings, and comparatively low student debt as key indicators of the university’s commitment to student achievement.

Dordt’s placement puts it ahead of several regional public universities, including the University of Northern Iowa (#10) and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (#20, tied), as well as conference rival Northwestern College (#42, tied).

The recognition highlights Dordt’s continued growth and dedication to providing a Christ-centered education that prepares students to serve as leaders in their communities and beyond.
