DCI Assisting in Fatal Inwood Shooting Investigation

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is assisting authorities following a fatal shooting investigation early Saturday morning in Inwood.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call at approximately 1:24 a.m. reporting a male with a gunshot wound at a residence in Inwood.

Authorities say the male died as a result of the incident. His identity is being withheld at this time.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was contacted to assist with the investigation.

At this time, authorities say there is no ongoing public safety concern related to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing. Any defendant mentioned in the investigation is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Earlier in the morning, deputies also responded to a separate, unrelated incident in Inwood that resulted in attempted murder charges against another individual.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rock Valley Police Department, Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County Conservation officers, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, Inwood Fire and Rescue, Canton-Inwood Ambulance, and Sanford AirMed.
