Listen to the report from Sioux County Radio’s Reagan Van Beek…
The Crittenton Center was founded 130 years ago to care for unwed mothers by providing them with prenatal care, assisting with adoptions, and supporting them in raising their children. Today, the Center’s mission remains unchanged, but its services have evolved to include two new programs for child welfare and family development.
Here’s Christina Postma, Vice President of Community Engagement and Development at the Crittenton Center, on what they offer within their Child and Family Development Program.
Orange City has a Child and Family Development Program site on Central Avenue. The other program is for Child Welfare and Well-being. Postma explains two initiatives in that program.
Postma describes a new initiative by Crittenton, called Street Outreach.
To celebrate their 130 years serving the community, the Crittenton Center is hosting a fundraiser meal themed as the early 1900s Great Gatsby. Postma lays out some of the fun events planned.
The Center has four different locations, including one in Orange City. To sign up for the fundraiser on Saturday, November 8, go to their website, crittentoncenter.org, and you’re encouraged to dress according to the theme.
