Court Documents Allege Inwood Man Chased, Stabbed Victim in Attempted Murder Case

Court documents are providing additional details in an attempted murder case stemming from an early morning incident Saturday in Inwood.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 1:00 a.m. Saturday to an assault with a weapon call in the 300 block of South Main Street in Inwood.

Authorities arrested 34-year-old Dane Charles Long of Inwood following the investigation.

According to criminal complaints filed in Lyon County District Court, authorities allege Long armed himself with a knife and used it during the incident.

Court documents allege Long chased the victim while brandishing the knife before stabbing the victim.

Investigators also allege the victim suffered serious injury during the incident.

According to the attempted murder complaint, investigators allege Long attempted to cause the victim’s death by stabbing the victim with a knife.

Court records further state that a knife was recovered at the scene.

Long faces charges including:

•Attempted Murder (Class B Felony)
•Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony)
•Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury (Class C Felony)
•Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
•First-Degree Harassment (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
•Use of a Dangerous Weapon in the Commission of a Crime (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
•Person Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons (Serious Misdemeanor)

If convicted on all charges and sentenced consecutively, Long could face more than 40 years in prison.

Authorities say Long remains in custody at the Lyon County Jail on a $200,000 cash or surety bond.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
