City Council Runoff Election Set for December in Orange City

In the Orange City City Council race, the top four vote-getters will be in a runoff election on Tuesday, December 2.

Ashley Riibe, Sioux County Elections Administrator, explains the process of when runoff elections are triggered.

Eight candidates ran for two council seats in Orange City. The top vote-getter, Mark Scallon (565 votes), along with Andrew Bloemendaal (532), Adam Howerzyl (456), and Tony Vande Brake (317), have advanced to the runoff. A total of 571 votes were cast for the remaining candidates who did not move on. Riibe explains who will be able to vote in the runoff and where the election will be held.

Riibe says Orange City isn’t the only city in Sioux County that can have a runoff election.
